Asbestos In Walls

Over the years, there have been a few different methods that contain asbestos, used both in walls and on them. For example, asbestos was added to plaster as an inexpensive way to insulate buildings, as well as to make them fire-resistant. Another method commonly used was asbestos insulation boards, used in walls, ceilings, fascias, and soffits. Lastly, Artex and asbestos-sprayed coatings were another method used to cover walls.

Asbestos Insulation Board (AIB)

Asbestos insulating board (AIB) was commonly used within internal partitioning in commercial properties. It has also been used as wall cladding that is usually fixed or bonded. Identifying AIB can be difficult without a specialist and/or testing, as it is often confused with non-asbestos materials. Therefore, it’s always worth testing.
